Common sense would tell me not to speak German while in a post WW2 Jewish nieghborhood, it would also tell me not to speak arabic while on a phone on public transportation post 9/11. Yes it sucks, but that's the world in which we live.

Very well said.

However most people don't have common sense. Like this reporter.

yea just like the other day, I saw a black man in a nice car in a nice area of my town. I can;t believe the police would not arrest him. You know he car jacked someone for it and sells drugs. geezzz, people just don;t have "common sense"

Why do you haaaaaaate America?

Sad for him, but like someone else said, it was just an overreaction by one clearly prejudiced person. Sounds like the authorities handled it as well as could be expected. They didn't blow it off when called, that would have been bad. Sounds like they were thorough and professional in checking him out and showed compassion for his trouble when everything was cleared up.

I don't think it can be seen as a sad comment on the way things are in the America of today. Just think what a long way we've come. What if he had been a person of Japanese ancestry in the America of post-Pearl Harbor? Then he would have really had something to complain about.

Edit: Oh and the name made me think of Andy Andy of Cheers fame. 🙂

Since he lied to authorities, he can be prosecuted, why wasn't he? 😕
