Chicago NW Suburbs body shop (hail damage) I've Decided, THANK YOU for your advice/suggestions/recomendations!

Hello,
I know theres a LOT of car buffs on this forum, I'm just wondering if anyone here has had good expieriences with a body shop is the NW burbs of chicago???

On sunday I got hit with a sh!tload of hail and there are many dents (doors, trunk, roof, hood ... some of the hailstones were as big as my fist), as well as damage to my rear driver side brake light plastic

I called my insurance, and I have until Thursday to choose which body shop before I go for the damage appraisal appointment.

A friend of mine Recommended B&L automotive repairs in Chicago ... but thats a bit farther than i'd like to travel (I'd hate to make my mom drive an hour to pick my up)

(I'm currently in Wheeling)

I think Gerber on Milwaukee Ave (just North of Lake-Cook, North of Cy's Crab House) is probably pretty good. I haven't dealt with that specific shop, but I did have some work done at the one in Skokie (excellent job).

They have a very professional shop and appear to be approved by most / all of the bigger insurance companies.

Hail damage? in Wheeling? I'm at ~Wheeling and Palatine ... I didn't see any hail.

Give Gerber a shot, I think you'll be happy with their work.

I'm just north of 83 and dundee ... and the hail was huge here ...

My neighbor has all kinds of broken windows on his house ... it was pretty nasty
 
Wow, what a difference a mile or two makes...

Good Luck with those guys. Go about lunch time and have some good food at Cy's while they're doing the estimate.

Yea Scott, we got hit with the hail here too, near Rand & Palatine. It sucked. Don't know any good places for you, BurnItDwn, always go through my uncle the ex-mechanic when I need this stuff done. Bump for ya though.

 
How bad is the damage? Maybe you could get a good estimate, learn to pull the dents yourself and do the work yourself, and pocket the extra money (after buying a couple of tools for the job.)
 
Yeah I know some others who got hit hard by the hail. Even saw a picture on the news of a car with inch or larger dents all over the entire car. Im in the Wheaton area, guess we got lucky.

Looks like I'll be getting the work done at Gerber - Auto Collision Center in Buffalo Grove
they were quite friendly over the phone, and it turns out they actually did some work on my moms car about 5 years ago (she was at a red light, and there was ice on the road, a car slammed in to the back of her car and kinda smashed it up ...)

CYs Crabhouse is awesome ... Maybe I'll take my mom out for lunch after I drop it off on thursday , to thank her for picking me up, and well, because she's my mom 🙂

The damage is pretty bad, if there were just a few dents, I'd get one of those dent puller things, and un-dent it, however there are dents overlapping dents all over the roof of the car

ohh well .. at least i haven't seen any reports about people getting hurt or anything like that.
