I'll answer that.

The article says they fired "all" the volunteers not just the white ones.

Second I'm sure coming from the network that promoted birtherism there is a large chunk of story being omitted. In other words I ain't buyin' the headline

Call us when you get more details not just a phony Fox headline

ok its fox news, so obviously they worded the headline to be deliberately misleading.

" Chicago museum fires all of it's mostly White female, financially well-off docents for lack of diversity "

They fired ALL docents, and they happen to be mostly white females, which kinda makes sense if you think about it.

Funny thing is, they (the museum staff) admitted that classism, free-income-levels and demographics was driving this. Yes friends, the museum openly displayed all of that...and it's likely legal.

I'd certainly be interested to hear what they examined and planned for, before coming to the decision to rid themselves of the blight of the admittedly well-trained evil bougie white people.

It's a rather shitty thing to do, and certainly shows no understanding of diversity or inclusion. I'd leave voluntarily from an organization like that. Loyalty and work means nothing to people like that. Public appearance and checking all the correct social check-boxes is what they are after. At the end of the day they all sit around in their offices and mutually congratulate themselves on another "mission accomplished!" Perhaps they should remember George Bush and his "mission accomplished" banner reaction.

Actions that mean nothing, and broken promises don't help people to like you, but exercising your right to be a dirtbag certainly helps them decide.

WHITE PEOPLE ARE THE REAL VICTIMS!

Next.
They are! Of evolution, ever seen the nasty sunburns they get on the beach? So jealous of dark skinned people every time I have to put sunscreen on my white ass.

You often find that unpaid workers, interns or volunteers, particularly in a high-status sort of role like that, are all from the elite moneyed classes.

Can't say I'm particularly broken up about the museum choosing to try a complete clear-out and fresh start. However it might be a bit "King Cnut", i.e. trying to order the tide not to come in - and thus might actually just be 'virtue signalling' on the part of the equally elite people who run the place and make these decisions. An elite trying to look good by sacrificing those one-step below them.

If you aren't paying people a living wage to do the job, it's likely the only people who will do it are those who have other sources of income and who are doing it for reasons of status and culture.

But I learned a new word, at least. Never heard of "docents" before.

I never thought about that! GREAT point.

Rich white people trying to signal that they understand the plight of the downtrodden, unwashed masses. Of course kicking their own to the curb in the process signals that loyalty and honesty is NOT among the virtues that they are trying to signal......

Working in law firms these past 20 years, I go to lots of charity functions. They are generally attended by wealthy people, particularly business owners. Many of these business owners do lots of volunteer work, and they make sure that the name of their business is prominently featured. So, when they give out "person of year" awards for outstanding community service, they say, "So and so, managing partner of the ______ law firm on ____ street in _____ city." Then of course the brochure for the event has advertising for their business in it.

Sometimes it isn't just them trying to virtue signal. There is a direct financial/business promotion interest involved. Even big businesses get involved, like Electronic Arts whose headquarters are here. If you like their "under-privileged youth sports league, you might also enjoy Madden NFL 2021!"

Don't get me started on the whole "round up your bill to the nearest dollar for charity" scams..

Is this Racism?
Is it ok to be racist if the staff doesn't represent the population around it?
Isn't that what whites have been accused of when they created systematic racism?

Waiting to see how this is spun.
Everyone fired as the museum decides what to do. Maybe they'll replace them all with paid employees with benefits instead of volunteers. Their right to do so. I'm not losing sleep about this and on the injustice scale, I think its somewhere between zero and infinitely near zero.

The internet feeds you exactly what you want.
I was curious, so I opened Microsoft Edge (which I don't typically use) and went to bing.com (again, don't typically use), and just scrolled down for a bit. Didn't see the story Juiblex shared... or anything race-baitey.

same for me.

I suspect Jubilix is just being a good little right wing nut job by spreading all the mutter propaganda like a good right wing nut job does on these boards.

For the fact that the Repub party's existence is based on a mountain of lies as exposed by one Donald Trump, there needs to be a constant source of more lies to keep that mountain from being exposed as a decades long hoax being played on their rank and file loyalists by their bought and paid for leadership. As I've mentioned before simply look at the Repub's legislative record since Reagan.

Look at what legislation they pounce on the moment the take power in DC. Legislation concerning giving real appreciative tax cuts for the middle class and helping hand programs for their poor members are slim to none. Rather, the Repub leadership has time and again attacked any all social welfare programs that millions of their working class members rely on for their survival.

It seems incredible to me that their own common folk would vote for those of whom would deny them any and all assistance from the federal gov't, denigrating those essential federal assistance programs as "socialism" while they gladly accept and take credit for the gov't programs being passed into law by the Democrats.

I don't believe a thing you are saying... I can log into my work VPN and see the same bullshit stories in the feed even though I never browse the web through my work VPN.
