the city is liable for lsot revenue due to actions by the city government.

they have no way of controlling a private citizen.

If people refused to park at a given meter; the city would not be held responsible for that lost revenue.

Just have some anti-government people sit outside a given block of meters with a flyer trying to convince people to use a different meter down the block.

If the meter is used only 25% of the time; the revenue loss will be noticed; but the city is not responsible. Free speech will protect the protester.

After all this is a Democratic city.:whiste:

Drive down the street where you desire to park and find a open slot. (If not circle the block/blocks until get lucky)
Attempt to parallel park.
Get your wheels within a certain distance of the curb to avoid a separate traffic impedance ticket 😛
Find the proper one armed bandit (or kiosk) and feed in a roll of quarters up to the max time allowed or that you expect to be.
Walk away
Come back before the time is up (max time fed by the coin)
Try to pull the car out of the slot into traffic and leave.

Every so often an enforcement official will come by to look at the meter to see if the red flag is up; If so, ticket time.
Other places that have time limits will mark you tire and then on the next cycle ticket if the mark is in the same spot.

One can always walk a couple of blocks to protest a certain meter.
Maybe volunteer to pay for a persons meter the next block over to keep the meter from being used?

The problem is there are more people in urban areas then 20 years ago and we dont have these, unfortunatly.

I think they should look into the contract and see if any city officials had any "benefits" from this. If corruption is fond that means the company who got this deal did the corrupting and their contract should be revoked. The people who pushed this thing thru should also be punished under the law.

I also believe that system was also in MI-4; impressive.

so it boils down that parking is at a premium in some cities and the end user has no leverage if they use a vehicle. 🙁

No problem. Its a very big problem here in los angeles. Its why we need high speed rail. So people can live further out and leave their cars behind when they go into the city(s).

Hub/spoke system?

High speed rail to get into the city from outlying (30-50) miles with stops positioned to suck traffic from the freeways.
You need an efficient light rail/bus system within the city.

Is there land along side the freeways or along the median for the rail?
Is there already the internal network to be able to support the increase of people at select locations?

yes we are in the process of doing light rail above ground. One of the proposed stops is half a block from my studio. So this interconnecting with a high speed rail would mean I could live 50 miles away and get into work in a hour.

This would be an amazing feat in los angeles.

all the meters are controlled by the company.

its meter on the street or a private garage. I aim for private garages due to the shady tactics they use giving violations and worrys about hit and runs while 2.5 hours from home

As more and more people lose their jobs and keep having their wages go down while prices continue to go up you will see more and more people joining the Occupy movement.

It is just the very beginning of the Revolution you are starting to witness.

However, I am not sure the OWS movement will ever really go after a corrupt government ruled by democrats. My main contention with the OWS movement from its inception is that they were protesting the wrong thing, and place. They should be protesting all parties in WA DC for allowing themselves to be whored out.

In short, I just don't see the occupy movement protesting the systemic corruption and political culture in Chicago. Would not mind being proven wrong however, it has gone on way too long.
