For best dimsum - go to Happy Chef (afterwards go to Joy Yees for bubble tea)
For cheap but decent food go to Seven treasures. The atmosphere is ghetto, but the food is good and cheap.

Take the Red Line south from the loop to the Chinatown/Cermak stop.

Once you get off the train, walk a block or so West on Cermak.

Evergreen is good, but it's at the end of the Wentworth Avenue strip.

Golden Dragon (as mentioned above, formerly known as King Wah) is okay. It's been there forever.

How authentic do you wanna get? If you think Panda is good Chinese, you're in for a real treat.

I like Panda's Orange chicken. I lnow it is americanized but I am american ;)

I emailed the chinatown chamber of commerce and he said house of fortune, phoenix or moon palace.

Three Happiness is good for Dim Sum
 With convenient parking right in front.

that place has been shut down for health violations a lot :frown:

greyd = much more accurate, joy yee's drinks rule, but their food on the other hand...

as a guy who goes to chinatown to eat at least 3~4 times a week for the past... 7ish years...

if i were to visit chinatown in chicago,
- food: ken kee's for homestyle food
bbq king for chinese bbq
dragon king for northern chinese style
spring world for a mix / stronger szeshuan
triple crown for late night grub
- fruit freeze drinks: joy yee's during the day
tea leaf cafe late night (free wifi too)

chinatown - do you like house of fortune, phoenix or moon palace restaurants? what is a good buffet that is not too spicy? I do like panda but don't hold that against me.

there aren't any real buffets (like yo uwould find in burbs / non chinatown) that aren't for weekday lunch

house of fortune is..... spoty for quality of food, mediocre at its best.
phoenix is consistent, good, clean, but a bit on the pricey side; and not spectacular in any respect. but its a pretty decent place to go to for dimsum on weekends, expect a long line.

moon palace : never been; and am weary of going in. it gives off a vibe of bad ju ju, but it looks like k1052 likes it there, so i may be completely off base.
