I have been debating an SUV/Truck purchase for about a year now, something to haul my snowmobiles with, and for my inevitable home purchase...

I ran across a Chevrolet Tahoe today that would fit well with the two kids as well...
Specs are:

2000 Chevrolet Tahoe LS
3RD Row Seats
5.3 Liter Engine
Power doors/locks/seats
CD Player
84,000 miles
Black with gray interior (Cloth seats)
Tinted windows
Front grille cover (brush beater)

Thoughts? They want $13,500 for it...

Its people like you that increase our dependency on foreign oil, neccesitating conflicts like Iraq.

If the vehicle doesn't hit 30mpg+ on the highway, I don't buy.

Man...talk about hating...

I am buying a truck or SUV so I can haul my stuffa round and for a trailer when i work on my house..
I drive 39 miles one way to work each day...so 78 miles total...I know ALL about the cost of gas..thats why I also have a 1998 Nissan Altima that gets me 25 to 30 per gallon...I wont be driving the SUV down tot owkr, only locally...one tank of gas should last me for ages...

I am asking for opinions on the truck for those who might own one or something similar to it, not for rhetoric on the evils of foreign oil dependancy.....if you want to bitch about that...then why do you even own a car?
Do you really think a car that gets 30mpg saves us that much in oil imports?

Thanks!
The third row seats come out, so i could use it to haul stuff for the kids when we go camping, etc..

we had a 99, i believe the 00's had a slight redesign in the looks but very nice car, it will haul watever you want, specially with the 5.3 dont worrybout the mpg, it should get around 17, my dad averages 17.3 in an avalanche with the 5.0 and about 14.3 on a 600 mile highway trip with an 18 ft trailer behind it (in tow/haul mode)

and btw, you dumbass fvcking idiot "omg wtf, BIG CAR = gas hog" you are fvcking morons just shut your dumbass traps, take your head outta your ass, look around, and then discover that you are pure and pathetic.

My parents have a suburban and a tahoe. I am constantly borrowing them to haul stuff around. They are good trucks that will haul quite a bit. Thats a nice price for that truck in my area.

What do you plan to stick on the trailer? Most sedans can tow around a trailer with construction supplies on it just fine. Friend of mine redid an entire floor or his hour using his Civic to pull a trailer. He also has a Durango that he uses for his 17 foot boat, but he said that is a PITA for pulling around a small trailer for most stuff like wood, plywood, and sheetrock. Obviously if you need to haul around bricks/conrete/gravel the car would fail horribly :p

Anyway, since you already have a decent car, go for the SUV :) That price looks decent for the area (you live in Maine?)

BTW, I should mention that my buddy has a 2004 Z71 Suburban and he says he gets around 20MPG.

Nothing like me reading the whole thread and skipping the first sentence, oh well :(

What do you eco-people expect someone to haul around snowmobiles in? A Toyota Prius???

The company I work for has a nice suburban that gets about 22 MPG. A suburban will probably be my next vehicle.
