Chess Program for 5 year old

The hardest one, best way to learn is to lose as many times as you can before grappling the concept and then it'll be a fun thing. As for the fun part, you're on your own.

yep...there are better progs for hardcore players, but this one is great all-around

edit: once he learns to not suck too bad, you might consider any local chess clubs that encourage children...i never liked playing against a comp as much as i like playing a human
 
Learn to Play Chess with Fritz & Chester 2: Chess in the Black Castle

This is currently the most popular chess software for children.

Chessmaster is also good for beginning players because it has a lot of interactive tutorials, but I don't think Chessmaster caters as well to children.
