Chenming USB Wiring

I'm building a new system using a Chenming 301 case with a MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard.

My questions is how do you connect the USB front ports on the Chenming to the Neo4?
The wiring diagrams I've seen for chenming show one wire bundle connecting only 9 wires, but the Chenming has two seperate wire bundles for the USB, and together there are 10 wires.
Do all the wires go into 1 usb port on the motherboard with one disconnected?

Chenming labels their wires.
1 ground
1 -D
1 +D
1 ground
1 +5v
2 ground
2 -D
2 +D
2 ground
2 +5v

The neo4 USB is labeled.
1 VCC
2 VCC
3 USB0-
4 USB1-
5 USB0+
6 USB1+
7 GND
8 GND
9 no pin
10 USBOC

I'm assuming the VCC is the +5v, USB0 is the 1-D and the USB1 is the 2-D. The only thing is I will have 1 extra ground wire, which I am gussing is the 2nd 2-gound wire.

TIA

Steve

i believe USB0 and USB1 represent two different USB port.

so,
you would do this...

Chenming ----- Mobo
1 Ground with GND
1 -D with USB0-
1+D with USB0+
1 +5v with VCC

umm.. i might be wrong, but this is how i do to all the computers i made

hope this works.

Thanks.
I ended up wiring it leaving the #2 2nd ground off. It seems to work fine. I don't have a USB 2 device to test it with, but a USB 1 device worked fine, so I think I'm OK. I'll have to find a USB 2 device and see if the ground affects it.

you MUST ground it...

or else it will bring disaster...
USB2 is not different from USB1... it's just a number for different USB slot.

You can just plug the device from USB1 to USB2 and check if it works.

I'd start another thread, but why clutter up the board. I will, if I get no response this week. Not a threat just a promise. With that said, I am hooking up the front usb from my "Matrix Gamers ATX Computer case" to my mobo "ASUS A7V600-X" .The mobo manual diagrams something like this: Here is the mobo manual find page 31
(up arrows are blank spaces) atericks are pins 5 top row, 4 bottom

  • ^^^^^^^^-+
    ^^^^^^^V66
    ^^^^^^^5PP

    ^^^^^^^V-+D
    ^^^^^^^5PPN
    ^^^^^^^+^^G
    ^^^^^^^BBB
    ^^^^^^^SSS

And a USB78 setup identical to above
The case wires are marked as follows:
red = +VCC
yellow = -D
green = +D
Black = ground
2 sets: one marked 1, other 2.
Can I hook both sets of wires on say usb 56,thereby giving me a toal of 4 front usb possibilities? But first i need to know which wire goes where. Thank you for your participation in this matter.🙂:beer:

how many front usb you got? 2 or 4?

VCC goes to voltage
-D goes to whatever number's '-'
+D goes to the same number as the top's '+'
ground goes to GND...

so.. if you have 2 front usb port, you will have 2 sets of VCC,-D,+D,GND
if you have 4 front usb ports, you will have 4 sets.

you can stick em anywhere you want, usb 5 or 6 or 7 or 8.
just remember that one set's pins must go into same number of USB.

Just 2 on the case, but the mobo specs say I have a total of 8. 4 are on back of mobo w/ the sound, parrellel, serial, p/s 2 ect... ports. I also have a 4in1 reader card I am going to hookup, so I would rather not lose a front port, if I don't have to.

when the Mobo spec says it has 8 usb port, it means it can hold up to 8 ports of USB...

as you said 4 are back, so you have 4 free USB ports.

you are going to use 2 of them for regular front USB port and another one for the card reader.

Yep, that's what I figured, hooked up the front usb ports to 56 and card reader to 78. Gee ,now I'm gonna have to find another internal usb device to fill up the space...... ?????! 😀
BTW, THANKS!!! :gift: :beer:
