Chenming 301 w/350watt Sparkle vs. Antec Sonata w/380watt quiet truepower? All in, it is about a $200 price difference accounting for other component change issues. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can get the Sonata for ~$100 WITH that PSU... How much is the 'sparkle' PSU?? I hope the name doesn't indicate what it will look like in a few months...

I have no experience with the chenming but I'm purchasing my 4th Sonata!

That should say something!

My understanding is that Chenming manufactuers at least some of the cases for Antec. I suspect the quality is similar for the most part.

Sparkle/Fortron is a great power supply. Have been running an Intel setup for over 4 years and not a hiccup.
One vote for Sparkle.

my sparkle 350 blew up :S

have 3 systems with the Sonata and going to get another one.

One antec psu from the bunch fried as well and I replaced the 380 with an Enermax 460 in my main system :)

I'd say Antec however. ITs a beautiful case and solidly built. Worth every penny...just dont put too many noisy components because a fan that produces 50 dB will be loud irreguardless of the case :p

Is it safe to say that the Sonata's 380W PSU is adequate to handle a typical non-SLI socket-939 system? I'd be more specific but I'm still researching components.

No doubt!:D Antec upgraded many of their power supplies to a higher 12 V capacity than shown at some web sites. For example, my Sonata's PSU cranks out 24 A on the 12 V line which is more than enough for all but a fully maxed out system.

Thanks for the reply. I just verified at Antec's website that the Sonata's TP380 PSU does indeed put out 24A @ 12V these days. Thanks for pointing that out. A Sonata it is, then!
