I think it's hilarious, and I agree that it shows lack of character. You don't wear sh!t like that to a ceremony, unless it's the annual starting of the snow blower ceremony.

It doesn't matter what he is dressing in if he were at home, but he is at work and is representing an entire nation infront of world leaders therefor he should dress accordingly.

First we have a cowboy, and now we have a tasteless badass.

I don't think this story is a _BIG_DEAL_, but it does strike me as odd behavior by the VP. He also looks unshaven. I guess to me it's like attending a funeral dressed like a hobo, and I do tend to think it's unbecoming for a man representing the most powerful nation in the world.

As for his heart condition, if he's so frail that he can't attend an outdoor ceremony dressed in appropriate business attire (complemented by a nice toasty cashmere coat, scarf, and hat if necessary), it seems to me he has no business being a heartbeat away from the presidency. It's my understanding he is not in that dire a state.

It's the FASHION EDITOR, it's her job to say people are dressed poorly (or well, as the case may be)

Maybe he can't afford a nice, more appropriate coat that would have kept him just as warm...

It was below zero and blowing snow. I would have been in a one piece snow suit.

Some people REALLY need to get a life.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) raised eyebrows on Friday for wearing an olive-drab parka, hiking boots and knit ski cap to represent the United States at a solemn ceremony remembering the liberation of Auschwitz.

. . .

"The vice president, however, was dressed in the kind of attire one typically wears to operate a snow blower," Robin Givhan, The Washington Post's fashion writer, wrote in the newspaper's Friday editions.

Between the somber, dark-coated leaders at the outdoor ceremony sat Cheney, resplendent in a green parka embroidered with his name and featuring a fur-trimmed hood, the laced brown boots and a knit ski cap reading "Staff 2001."

"And, indeed, the vice president looked like an awkward boy amid the well-dressed adults," Givhan wrote.

. . .

Do you think he would have dressed like for GWB's inauguration?
