Any of you chaps know how to balance this equation?

Balance the equation:
C14H18N2O5 -----> CO2 + H2O + N2

is it supposed to be a combustion reaction? methinks you need an 02 on the lefthand side

I think C14H18N2O5 -----> B14CK1NCH3S

Yeah, the equation cannot be balanced as written. There aren't enough oxygens to go around.

I think Fenixgoon is correct.....which would balance it as C14H18N2O5 + 16O2 =>14CO2 + 9H2O + N2

hmm I think you're right guys! I'll check it out and come back to see if there is some O2's on the left side. :)

SO YES! it is a combustion reaction and O2s are needed!! Thanks to yamadakun and Fenixgoon and screech!! :D
