Please help me solve this problem:

The radius of a gold atom is about 1.43 angstroms. Use this measurement to calculate the volume of a gold atom in picometers cubed volume = 4/3 P r3


I have been on this for an hour and I keep getting : 5.98996999284454e+29
Which is the wrong answer.

I do 4/3 x Pi x (143^3)^3.

Plz help!!

1 angstrom = 100 picometers, so radius is 143 picometers...
so volume should be 12248889.638367796... or 1.22 x 10^7 cubic picometers, right?

1.22 x 10^7 = (4/3) x pi x (143^3), to make order of operations clear.
EDIT: Oh yeah, pip boy's right... you cubed 143 twice. Otherwise, that equation should work for you.

thx that is right. The reason a cubed twice was cuz I thought u had to do that to get cubic picometers, in any case thx a lot.
