Still brainstorming but this is the most writeable thing i have so far....
I can tell you my lifes not as exciting as my avtar may portray it to be...Its hard for me to pick one event or something like that about my life that did something to me since i really havent had all that much happen.

What is this, the one that goes what do you in the classroom is only part of waht defines who you are?

I forget what the other one is, I'm writing the transfer essay (go to Northwetsern ya #10 in the nation but u never heard of it, wan't to go to Berkeley, I'm from CA).

A more interesting comparison would how technology improved/influenced your parents life vs. how technology improved/influenced your life. I could be wrong of course.

that's a very broad topic. the obvious influence is the personal computer and the many things you can do with it. it provides entertainment, allows users to write essays, increases productivity with software (think excel, powerpoint, photoshop, etc.). knowledge of this software creates jobs and helps run the economy, albeit in a very slow way recently. those companies using that software affect your life in many ways. think of the bank, the grocery store inventory database systems, streetlights, your car, etc. The generation of electricity relies on technology and this allows you to watch tv at night, turn on lights when it's dark and power your computer to play games.

you could even use that loop to show how technology encompasses our lives. you might want to center it around your life since the essay prompt is "How technology influences [your] life."

btw, which campuses are you applying to and for what major(s)?

if you are going to write about technology, dont write about how technology influences your life, but write something along the lines of what technology has made you into (subtle difference). they dont call it a personal statement for nothing.

Start talking about the one time you saw a computer. It took up an entire room and was incredibly fast. Say that the experiance changed your whole view on life after death and how you plan to one day build a computer that is small enough to fit into a 10'x10' room and not require it's own separate generator. Go into details about your life before seeing the 'computer' and what your life is now (if you know what I mean). ex: Before seeing the computer I lived in a cave dreaming of some way to heat up and cook my food. We hunted sabre tooth tigers and hit the women on the head with a club. Now I ...
