I got some of these from B.K. last night, the lady was nice enough to give me 14 in my 12 order. These things are DELICIOUS, and I would like to buy them in bulk, no not Alternator size. I mean like an entire freezer full :) I've never seen anything close for sale at super markets.

For anyone who had them they're a chunk of potato with cheese dipped in some sort of batter and deep fried. They are not really like a Tater Tot the coating is much different.

not gonna work, they don't have the taste or texture of tater tots, T.T's have a hash brown like coating, these have some sort of floury smooth coating that's super crunchy.

that could be decent, it's definitely worth trying even though it won't be close to the same. I can see it being really good tasting, awesome idea man :)

There used to be a place in Grand Rapids, MI called Get 'em and Go (A Fast Food Restaurant). Probably my favorite fast food when it was open. They had these things called Cheese Teasers, which were exactly the same thing as the Cheesy Tots. They most definitely are full of win.

Maybe if you batter some tater tots before you fry them, after injecting them with Cheez Wiz via syringe...

The fact that you imply they make these by hand is kind of funny to me, but based on your description (I've never had these) here's what I would say.

Off the top of my head try this out...

1 1/2 cup finely diced potatoes
1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg
seasoned breadcrumbs (I like the italian style)

Mix up these ingredients thoroughly and then make whatever shape out of them you want (little tater tot cylinders would work well). COAT WELL with seasoned bread cumbs, and deep fry until golden brown.

EDIT: After looking at the BK site and seeing a picture, it's definitely a bread crumb coating, not a batter. link

Got a deep fryer? Just ask the manager politely if you can buy a box off the next truck.

I've eaten them, and I don't think it's a bread crumb coating.

Here's a good idea.

Make some seasoned mashed potatoes. Form it into little balls and refrigerate.

Melt some cheese, (your preference), use toothpicks, stick a potato ball (while cold) and dip into melted cheeze, then place on cookie sheet with wax paper. Fill cookie sheet with coated cheeze balls then refrigerate.

Make a flower based batter. Heat oil. Take out your potato /cheese balls, dip in batter and fry!!

Will come out delicious!!!

This sounds very probable.

I don't think it's bread crumbs either, the chicken sammiches I ate the same night from there had bread crumbs and the taste/texture was very different.
