I know many of you out here probably never made cheesecake, but for those of us that have, I decided to see which one people prefer.

I prefer the baked kind. I make a mean cheesecake; so rich and sweet and tasty that you will gain 5 pounds from just looking at it.

:D

Ding! Ding! Ding!

yes, there is a type of cheesecake that you stick in the fridge to firm it up instead of baking it.

Yeah, well, they're not called cheeseflourcakes for a reason.
LOL

I just bake mine in the oven at 300F for 55 min. Then let stand for a hour and then chill it over night. Then I apply the secret ingredients.

I didn't know there were two different types... so I'm not sure what I've eaten, and it's been awhile. Mmmmm blueberry cheesecake though :D

WTF?

no. a thin layer of sour creme and a fruit topping usually mixed berry.

I like cheesecake on a stick, nice and cool/frozen, lots of fresh fruit otherwise.

It's not real cheesecake if it hasn't been baked. My mom always made that 'cheesecake' that you buy a kit for. You make it like pudding and chill it. That's not cheesecake, that's some kind of pudding pie.

I think some people have confused baked vs chilled with how it is serverd rather than how it is made. The chilled cheesecake is more like instant pudding. It is not good compared to the real thing.

The only way to bake a cheesecake is in a water bath. It gets dry otherwise. Really not hard to do, just get a roasting pan, fill with about an inch of water, wrap the bottom of your springform pan in foil so it is sealed and put it in the water when baking. Easy.
