Bought a whole mocha cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory for $40 and enjoying a slice while all you guys are bitchin :p Go on....I need some entertainment to go along with my delicious cake.

Cheesecake is like durian, good to enjoy in small portions on occasions. Too much all at once and I just wanna puke.

I'll leave this thread with this:

Alton Brown knows more about cheesecake than you do.

:p

Who?

Never heard of him and by the looks of that site I think I will take the dictionary over someone who can't even make a decent website. :p

That isn't made by Alton Brown, it's just a fan made transcript of a show.
This is his site, and I'm sure he knows more about cooking than 99% of the people here. Great show btw.
Cool. I'd never actually been to his site. His favorite links are great!

cake v pie is simple.

if it's baked in a pie pan and has a crust, it's a pie.

if it's baked in a spring-form pan and has no crust, it's a cake.

but at the end of the day, it's all poo :p

i learned to make them myself, add a little lemon to the mix, or some strawberries....or choclate chips, whatever, cheesecake is fantastic; and i have 2 in my fridge right now.

Heathen.... the only proper cheesecake is a plain cheesecake that gently melts in your mouth. All other cheesecake is eveel and improper!:D

Who says you have to use a pie pan?

Normal pans work as well as pie pans for it.

And there are quite a few cakes with crusts.
