<serious thread>

I am feeling really down.

Went for a job interview, did not get the position. I have been looking for a new job for 4 - 5 months. Only landed 1 interview.

One of the dogs I rescued killed one of my chickens last weekend, then mauled another one yesterday. My wife and I got the chicken, separated her from the flock, sprayed her wounds down with antibiotic spray and have her in a cage in the house. She will probably be ok. I have seen wounds like this before. There is a good chance she will recover. Chickens have a wonderful immune system.

Over the past few months I built a new 200 feet long x 100 feet wide chicken yard. The stupid chicken did not want to stay in its nice new yard, it got out, and the dog had its way with her. Just stay in your yard and you will be safe. But chickens do not understand that.

It seems like no matter what I do, something goes wrong.

Maybe go for a hike in Texas? A good hike ALWAYS clears the mind.... at least temporarily. What kind of position are you looking/applying for?

The places I usually go are being hunted at this time. Bow season started a week ago.

Looking for an inland tugboat job.

You're in Texas son. Take a trip to the range and go shoot the biggest gun you can find. A big boom will put a smile on anybody's face.

Keep it up, there goes another chicken.

Damn you.

You have to learn to accept that and roll with the punches, because that is exactly how the world works.

True, but living with depression is not always easy.

In some of my post I mentioned taking my medicine everyday, that is true.

Because, they are,.. chickens.

,.. wait - I bet you talk to your chickens, don't you?

D:

Yes I talk to my chickens, and my dogs.

In Socal the only way is to know somebody or be related, widen your options.

Too bad on the dog, once they know chickens are food, they will kill every one of them and not a thing can be done to change it. Find the dog a new home.

One of the signs of Lupus is being down.

Nothing you've really described is anything major that should get you down. Dog's gonna be a dog, especially if it has a high prey drive. The whole job thing, is to be expected. Jobs don't grow on trees and sometimes it takes a while to land something good.

I have no advice on that. All I am saying is don't depend on your plans not going awry, because they usually will. I've been a homeowner for 12 years now, btw, and every single damn thing I've ever spent time working on has more or less reverted to its original state of disrepair. When the kids move out I'll try again. In the meantime I comfort myself with the fact that it's just a building. It'll be gone in another 30 years anyway. In the end, I decided that my allotted time on the planet was not meant to be used in performing maintenance. There is no great judge in the sky who is going to meet me after I die and high-five me for all my great work on the yard.

How long is the pay period?, is that check for a month, a quarter,? I've noticed that the pharmacists at most retail places operate under a great amount of stress and the stores try to save $$ by keeping staffing at as low as possible levels, but it looks like you work in an institutional setting so maybe it's not so bad.

Right now gay couples across the country are getting married. That should put a smile on your face.
