checking your computer's temperature?

Is their anyway to check your computer's temperature?

Assuming your motherboard supports it, sure (well, at least you can see what the temperature sensors on the motherboard/CPU say, which may or may not correlate really well to the "temperature" of the computer).

Try any of: SpeedFan, MotherboardMonitor, Everest, your motherboard's diagnostic tools, the monitor in the BIOS screen when you boot up...

speedfan, it will detect all the temp sensors on your motherboard (if any), if no temps show up then theres probably no sensors on your mb that can read temperatures
your mb should have come with a temp software if its decently new

I've had troubles with Speedfan. It'll say one zone in my computer is constantly at -1 C, and another one is at 122 C with a little fire picture next to it, indicating there is a small fire inside my computer. Speedfan sucks?

If you're using an intel CPU, get the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (google it), otherwise use CoreTemp for your CPU temps.

Yeah Core Temp I can rely on, but across different motherboards I've seen quirks with Speedfan.

My old motherboard didn't work well with SpeedFan either (Abit KV8-MAX socket 754... those were the days) and I haven't even installed it on the new stuff. To hell with it, I say.

i use speedfan. as for the weird temps, click configure. it may be getting a bunch of different temps and reporting the first as the CPU temp. i have a couple of temps that show -1C all the time. but i found the one that is my CPU temp and it works great. also can read S.M.A.R.T. HDD data. you can also use PC Wizard from cpuid.com that tells you lots of info about your computer as well as all and any temps that are neccesary.
