I bought a ASUS VX248 monitor, and I get no sound from the speakers.

Tech support said rest the monitor, and that did not work

How can i check in windows 8.1 that the HDMI is putting out audio?

I can use (and prefer HDMI sound), or I can use a lin-in wire jack from the desktop output jack to the monitor input jack

Thanks

The audio patch cable to Line In won't hurt. First,. I would try a different HDMI cable. Also, in Control Panel, check all your preferences to make sure HDMI sound is enabled. Also, check all the monitor's many settings to make sure the speakers are ON. Funny - I have never used monitor speakers. They are usually of low sound quality.
