does anyone know a good utility, that evaluates/checks/benchmarks your system and tells me what settings either in bios or in windows could be enabled/disabled for my system ?

I mean I have a XP 2100+ and a Radeon 9700 Pro and GTA3 runs quite low on frames that it stutters without AA or anything at 1024x768x32 ... I just reinstalled windows, and in my previous install it wasn't this bad..

Full specs :

Abit KR7a
XP2100 @ 1733
512DDR
Ati Rad 9700 Pro

I would try some of the benchmarks here:
here You might try pc mark, sisoftware sandra, or 3dmark.

What kinda PSU do you have? I once had a generic 350w on a P4 Rig i made for somebody. It would take like 30minutes for windows to even load. Turns out it was choking on power, a nice Antec430w fixed all the problems.

Good luck!

Sure, blame the PSU. LOL, sorry, that could be right. I'm more curious about the 9700 pro install and drivers, especially since I'm getting ready to install the AIW version. Seems to be some issues along those lines from my readings before I bought this guy. You can check your voltages using a voltage monitoring program and compare the voltages to the mfr specs (i.e. if the spec says NMT 2% deviation but you get 5%, I'd suspect the PSU).

Seems to me this would be UnderVolt, not OverVolt... :p
