Checking bulk cable

When opening or using a "new" spool of bulk cable, does anyone ever terminate both ends and check it for continuity?

Is it a good idea, or is it a waste of time?

I would hate to run cable that is already bad.

Pros - cons?

Thanks

Personally never had issues with spools of Cat3, Cat5, Cat5e.

Had problems with spools of 50 and 100 pair though.... that was a b1tch...
