I guess I'm new to this but....doesn't the camera crew kind of give it away that something's amiss?

Oh, wait. Reality show. :hmm:

The story they told on the show was that the boss was posing in the restaurant for a fake reality show called Second Chances the fake premise of which was someone who was in financial troubles would have a business endeavor funded. He was supposedly trying to learn about the Checkers restaurant industry to use his second chance on a franchise.

Hence why he probably had already signed a waiver to be on television when this was filmed.

i used to like this show but after watching it for a while its the same show over and over and over.

boss is made to look like a idiot while doing some menial labor shit.

they visit several locations and there is always one location that is mis managed so mr CEO has to flex his super duper CEO muscles to get everybody whipped back into shape.

but wait there are also the 3 employees are profiled by 3 sad boo-hoo sob stories

then those 3 employees are "summoned" to HQ via corporate jet and dropped off at the front door by a stretch lemo. Each one meets the CEO in his office and the CEO begins the faux caring routine starting with "your story touched my heart" "we at XYZ company care about its employees" "its a travesty so many hardships have come your way and you have to work for min wage" here is 10K and a new car and a full ride scholarship for each of your 5 kids to Duke University.

honestly it pissed me off.

There's no way in hell this show isn't faked... at this point, if you have a 'special' worker coming in to do a job for a few days with a camera crew following him around, you should know it's most likely your CEO on undercover boss.

The look on the manager's face when the CEO breaks his cover is hilarious.
I love it when a manager gets pwned. Remember the Hooters episode? Manager was fired because he basically hated women even though he's running a store where 99% of the employees are women.

I bet it's staged anyway
They probably only stage it if the store is well run. Some of the shit I've seen in real life is so much crazier than anything that could be staged. I remember one of managers at McDonalds was a major bitch when I worked there. She would talk to all of the employees like they were retarded and she would micromanage everything. We would intentionally do shitty work just to piss her off since doing a good job after being micromanaged would be positive reinforcement. Some of the more vocal employees started a petition to have her fired, which we all signed then sent to the district manager. It didn't work, but oh well.

The guy manages (well...managed) a Checkers. He might not be the sharpest tool in the box to begin with.

Why would anyone act like a douche in front of a camera? Even if the guy wasn't a CEO, surely the actual CEO might eventually be apprised of it. Dumb shit goes viral all the time.

really? I didnt sign anything and I never would. I live in LA. I'm up to my ears in reality tv crap.

Anyone know how this works? People are put in front of cameras all the time without signing releases for TV but don't[and I assume can't] sue. TMZ does this all the time for example. Then there's also the news, youtube videos, etc.

thre is a difference from having someone walk by on camera and defamation of character. You can edit a video to be what you want it to be they have these people sign releases so they can edit together them raping dogs if they want.

If you ever get promoted to manager at Checkers you should be very vigilant.

I need to be vigilant believe me. One of the guys who runs one of the studios I work with just did a reality tv pilot on old men with young women :)

I think on that episode they actually different fire him right away. They put him through retraining and he came back for a few months before he was actually fired. He should have been gone right away.

Store manager was/is undergoing "retraining" to company standards as mentioned in the end to that show. He had a point and probably felt frustrated on how to deal with unruly employees. At least he wasn't fired on the spot. :(

That's the thing - some people really have no idea how to effectively manage a group of various people, without resorting to screaming and the like.

It takes a certain grace and skill to actually be an effective manager. The ones who take pride in respecting their employees are typically the ones who fast-track through many levels of management, simply because people notice a major difference versus the average group of management.

And I need to see the Hooters episode.

My local joint had an issue where the managers were either too nice and the girls abused them, or too tough and the girls were afraid of them. One guy even slept with a couple and gave them coke once in a while.

1st: The guy was in disguise.
2nd: Not everyone does what I do. I was in the Navy and you are REQUIRED to know your chain of command all the way up to the president.

When I got out and went to Hynix I tried to learn as many names and titles as I could. The top people were back in Korea and for some reason the management wasnt too keen on giving out everybodies full name and exact job title. Weird. But I knew everyone up to the chief of manufacturing.
When Hynix died I immediately went looking for a new job. Adecco called me and said Tektronix in Beaverton needed people. Before I even did my interview I researched as many people as I could and I memorized one thing the president had done in the past couple years. Repeated it during the interview when the manager asked me what I knew about the company.
That along with my technical skills had him calling Adecco IMMEDIATELY after the interview and they called me by the time I had turned in my badge and walked to the car. I had a job.

It pays to know names, if not faces, and it usually helps to impress.

Cool story bro!
