check your wall mirrors to see if they are secure

I guess the mastic gave out after 9 years and the bathroom mirror fell off the wall and shattered to peices everywhere. What a mess. It scared the wholy crap out of me. It sounded like someone dropped a huge glass table on a cement floor right next to me. Luckily no one was in or near the bathroom. So if you have kids, or if you don't...check your mirrors to be sure they are attached. If I had known the glue was going to fail, I would have put those screw deals on. It's one of those things you just don't think about.

Tremors loosen it?

could be. probably crappy construction though. houses out here aren't built like they used to be. no quality control, cheap labor, etc.

Ooh, put up a polished stainless steel panel as a mirror to replace it!

Invite graffiti artists, vandals, and homeless people to come over, redecorate, and add aroma to your bathroom.

I think I'll head down to Venice Beach today.

So they only used mastic instead of mastic and clips?

Sounds like crappy construction to me.

That being said, I dont think mine have clips either and I contracted my own house. I wonder if I should sue myself.

Lousy contractors.

You're all a bunch of crooks!

Good thing no one got hurt. You can purchase nice inexpensive (about $20~70) bevel edge polish mirrors at Home Depot that come with screws/clip (might want to get some additional plastic wall anchors).

I just looked at those (Stanley). I'm worried about quality. Since this is a bathroom, there is a lot of moisture...I'm thinking of calling a glass shop.

Should I just go with the $60 36x60 mirror at Home Depot? I'm sure the mirror that was in there was a cheap one though...

Oh god, that's one of those huge messes that makes you want to just sit down and cry. That must've been a b!tch to clean up.

The mirror at HD should be fine. I have one of those in one of my bathrooms and it looks fine after four years.

Yes

All mirrors are the same. A polish surface to reflect light, and glass is generally utilize as a protective surface and a painted backing to protect the metal from moisture/oxidize.

I replaced all 3 of my bathroom mirrors with Stanley from HD, and they all working perfectly (easy to clean due to frameless contruction).

It might be a good idea to spruce up the bathroom with a coat of paint & new fixtures (lighting. etc...) while you are at it.
