I just checked my credit card account this morning and discovered a charge from "WPI IFRIENDS INTERNET - 800 243 9726"
does anyone know about this company? This is probably the last place that i would spend any money on...
Looking through the web gave me their website, apparently they know that they are charging many people's credit card, assuming that "someone else" is using the credit card and asking you to verify it by "sending them" the credit card number, sounds really fishy...
Here is the Link and the description from their site:
Who Is "WebPower"? Who is "iFriends"?
If your credit-card statement bears a charge from "WebPower", or "WPI*IFriends", you've probably come to the right place. We created this comprehensive information-packed factsheet especially for your convenience.
WebPower provides world-wide-web and other important services to several of the internet's most popular internet-entertainment businesses. Why Does "WebPower" or "IFriends"
Appear on my Credit Card Bill?
If you see the name "WebPower" or "IFriends" on your credit-card statement, it means that you or someone with access to your credit-card information (spouse, student at college, etc) has purchased a website access plan with a WebPower-enabled web service, via the internet and/or telephone. When you contact us (see below), we can provide you with full details, including an "IP trace" to the physical location of the specific computer or modem used to enter into the transaction with WebPower. (Note that prior to acceptance, all WebPower transactions are processed through the Visa/Mastercard address-verification anti-fraud control system, or "AVS").
How can I Contact You?
Because of the diversity of the services we offer, there is sometimes not enough room in the credit-card "descriptor" space to adequately identify the product or service charged. So, we've created Four Easy Ways to make it super-convenient for you to contact us and find out precisely what you were charged for:
Use our online credit-card-charge lookup facility. You provide the dollar amount of the charge, and this facility identifies the product or service that was billed to your card. Just click here to look up your WebPowertm charge.
Call our toll-free customer-service department. The toll-free 800 number, 1-800-243-9726, is indicated on your card statement and is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Live customer service representatives are available Mondays through Fridays, 9am to 8pm Eastern time, and on Saturdays 10am to 4pm Eastern Time. (Outside of these hours, the toll-free number provides you with an automated system that's a whole lot more than just voice mail. You can use it to research your account, and even cancel any access-plans). Overseas callers may reach us at an alternative number, 1-561-963-9005.
Email our customer service department at billing@webpower.com. Our computers are manned 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, so there's a good chance someone will quickly reply to your message. Important: To help us quickly locate your account and avoid any unnecessary delays, please include the first 13 digits of the credit-card number charged, and your zip or postal code (messages received lacking this information may be returned).
If necessary, you also may write us. If you decide to mail us a letter, please include your name, the date and amount of the transaction, the first 13 digits of the credit card number that was billed, and your zip or postal code (Any messages that lack this information may be returned). If you wish to receive a reply to your letter, please include a means of contacting you with the requested information. Use the following address:
WebPower, Inc.
Attn: Account Inquiries
7765 Lake Worth Road, Suite 341
Lake Worth, FL 33467
We hope we've provided you with all the information about WebPowertm that you're looking for, and a way to obtain more information if needed. If you still have any questions, feel free to e-mail our customer help desk at help@webpower.com.
I am going to give a call to my credit card company now, but just want to make sure if this has anything to do with any of the hot deal posted here at the hot deal forum, such as the EGM subscription scam, which i did not gave out the number.
Thanks
