Check this out: 1 Ghz PIII for $450 in October

hmmm $450 for 1000?

well since most of us dont have $450,000 lying around, we will have to buy from some retailer. so like $500 for one of these then? or should i expect more of a markup?

$500 for a 1000 in my slot 1 sounds real nice, still not ready to jump to Athlon just yet.

I believe they meant $450 per unit based on 1000 purchases as is the case usually. Don't get me wrong I'm an AMD guy too but thats a helluva an offer.

That's if you buy 1000 of them. (??)

Most people will buy 1.. in which case it costs how much?? Bah, I'm not going Intel anyway.

I think it's a load of crap. If you have the money, just try to buy a friggin 1ghz today. Unless you are Dell or IBM you have a better chance of winning the lottery (without a ticket). This is all 'paper' product IMHO, just a stall till Willy.

<< Most people will buy 1 >>

Most retailers will buy more than one, which is who that "per 1000 quantities" is referring to.

Considering that AMD is dropping the price of the T-bird 1GHz to $485 in late August / early September, I'm underwhelmed by the announcement about the Papermine . . . 😉
