It looks like the L1 bridges are unlocked, but since there are so few of these and I'm not that lucky, I figured I'd check for a consenus. Will be installing it next week so I'll know for sure then.

i believe week24 was when they started locking the chips. yers is a week22, so definitely unlocked. i have an unlocked week23 chip myself.

Spindler what speed are you getting out of your unlocked Duron 650? mine is week 23 also,
but I am still undecided on which motherboard to get.

kbtrade,

i can post at 950, wont load into win98 tho.
i can post at 900, and load into win98, but its not stable.
i'm currently running it at 850 last couple of days and its rock steady at this rate. playing diabloII and bg2 doesnt cause it to lock up or crash anymore. i just got some crucial memory that runs at 143mhz 2-2-2 (turns out to be micron, just rebranded to crucial) so i'll be retesting out the speed again real soon.

btw, here's a link to my oc'ing adventures :)

btw, i'm not sure if you remember or not :) but we bought our chips at the same place at lynn computers. man, that place is suck for customer service!!! i asked if i could just exchange my chip for a higher speed one and i'll pay the difference and they said no!! i tried to reason with the guy a bit, he finally relented but said he'll have to charge me a 25% restocking fee. WTF?!! to top it off, he ended up just hanging up on me saying if i dont like it, tough sh*t. yah, this is great customer service.....NOT!! hanging up on your own customers and making them feel like they're a step below dirt will not keep you in business very long. every place i've dealt with have been very nice and accomodating except for this POS place. it'll be the first and last time i'll be buying from them. i hope they rot and die.

lol, had to to get that off my chest :) drop me an email when you finally decide to get your stuff and overclock, kbtrade! spindlerr@home.com

KBTrade,

To OC, you probably want an Asus A7V or ABit KT7. However, don't expect much past 850 for the week 23s.

Spindler,
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with lynncomp.com, I never used them before myself but they seemed ok on my order...I must admit, they do have a lame ass website :Q my 9 year old could build a better site than that...LOL

850? is that all? mine is running at 1100 with no heat sink and generic pc66 ram ;)...just kidding! checking to see if your awake. :D

I now wish I would have waited another week and bought a Duron 700 from Buy.com with free shipping if your is only reaching 850 :(

So, how long did you keep the Duron before asking them to exchange it. Did ya use it. If ya did it would be used and they could not sell it as new !!.

I agree with you on that DaddyG, since they were retail boxed Durons lynncomp would not be able to sell them as new once opened. I wanted a retail box and at $65 I can't complain, even if it only hits 850 :)
