I won a bid on ebay for a copy of check point firewall but I would like to ask. Does anyone here think this is the full blown product it just seems to cheap? I spoke to the guy and he says its a serial number in the package. Do you think all I will need is that one number or will I end up calling checkpoint and spending more money on such things as vpn lincensing I basically would like to know if anyone here knows anything about check point lincensing?

I believe that what you just purchased is the CD media for the product. The auction clearly states
Buyer is responsible for licensing the Check Point products
. This probably means that you don't have a license to run it - There's a big difference between HAVING the disc and being authorized to use it. It might come with a 2-IP demo mode or something, but definitely not something you'll be able to use in a production environment.

It looks like there's some kind of sticker that you can't read. Probably says "Evaluation Version" or "Not For Resale", which means no license, or one thatexpires in a few weeks.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you generally get what you pay for on eBay. You might occasionally find a steal, but not on something like that.

You are right I think I'll have to pass on this one. I would like to play with check point but I can't see spending a ton of money on the product. I thought they had personnel copies but they don't.
