Ok, this will be my first build and I'm nervous, and would like you guys to take a look at it.

Case: Aspire X-Plorer- $58

Motherboard: EpOX Nforce4 Ultra- $85
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813123258

-or-

Asus A8N5X Nforce4- $86 (or if you guys don't recommend either of these, then what do you suggest for this price range?)

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800- $297

Video Card: eVGA Geforce 7800GT- $285
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130256

PSU: Thermaltake 500W ATX 12V 2.0- $79
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817153028 (Now about this, it is a 20+4 pin power supply, but those mobos are 24 pin. Are they compatible? I read the sticky, but couldn't make sense of it.)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 80GB SATA 3.0GB/s- $58
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822148107

DVD Drive: Lite-On IDE DVD Burner- $38
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827106014

Windows XP w/SP 2- $93

A couple of questions about this. Do I need a floppy drive? Someone said that I need one to install SATA drivers. Also, are there any compatability issues between any of the items? Thanks for any help.

Edit: I already have 1GB of RAM

Not bad, get rid of the TT PSU, the 450W fortron is a much better buy @ $50. You don't need more than the 400W one but for another $10 why not?

You don't need a floppy drive, but once a year or so it comes in handy.

Otherwise not bad at all.

E2A: I'd go with the asus A8N E or the epox, i think the epox is the better OC board though. Oh and you are buying some RAM aren't you, and it is 2gb of the cheapest stuff you can find?
