Cool, my brother-in-law has sent my sister Iraqi money as well. It's interesting currency to say the least.

When my step father came back from the war, he brought back hundreds of leaflets that they were dropping over Iraq, and some Iraqui money also ;) It's neat :p

XE.com says it is worth a little over $800. I wouldn't Ebay it, you would probably be better off selling it somewhere else...

Somebody care to explain why it is worth so much? Seems with the war, how their country had collapsed, that it would be worth significantly less than the dollar. Any Econ majors in here?

I heard on the radio yesterday that iraqi's were buying fake id's for 7000 dinars, "the equivalent of $5". That makes 250 dinars worth about 18 cents.

If I had to guess, its the rate Saddam had decided his Dinar was worth, and they haven't brought it back to reality yet. Since this is probably the case, I'm sure no bank would honor it and convert Dinars to USD at that ridiculous rate. They'd laugh and give you a quarter :)
