Check out this song my buddy and I recorded

Hey all,

My buddy and I recorded this song last night after playing together for a few days straight, eight hours a day. Its just a throw together recording, but its original.

Whats everyone think of it? Suggestions?

You definitely need to record it again and get rid of the clipping on the piano.
Needs drums in the middle section, the guitar doesn't carry it by itself.
Could use some more production, and I think I heard a few wrong notes.
But other than that, I've heard worse 😛

Of course. We dont have any recording equipment, so we need to get rid of a lot 🙂

We've got a drummer playing with us next week, hopefully he'll add to it nicely. 🙂

Time to pick a non-standard distortion for that guitar. You need to spend more time to get a unique/distinct sound for that guitar. The piano/heavy music thing is just a little to cheeseball. The scaling is also bad musically (it sounds completely un-original).

I like it a lot, but it seems that the recording sucks... too much background noise or something. It's very 'goth' though.. reminds me of some Evanescence songs -- of which I'm a huge fan 🙂

The intro/slow piano sounds fine except for a few wrong notes. Try gradually moving the progression to a diminished chord instead of rushing it if youre going for a dramatic effect to bring tension to the song. The start of the distorted section sounds fine at first but it quickly becomes boring and cumbersome. Try focusing on the overall structure by creating interesting rhythm feels instead of greatly changing the progression. This should give you the flow that this section lacks. I suggest adding lyrics because the lead isnt intense and interesting enough to be an instrumental. The outro is fine but again the lead playing is somewhat weak. I'd also make the middle distorted section longer to compliment the lyrics you add to make it into a full song. I wouldnt worry about the production and quality of the recording unless you have a complete song and plan to pitch it.

Wow, I like it!

Take the reccomendations others made and then post one with even more finishing touches and such, but I really think you're off to an excellent start 🙂

Wow sounds really good, but I agree wtih the rest that it needs a bit of work. I would be willing to buy an album with this type of music if it ever came out.

Oh, btw, I really look forward to the finished product. No need for lyrics either. This kind of music doesnt need them.
