Here's what I'm thinking for a new build... any comments? I'll order soon if everything looks good. My biggest question is... is 450W enough power? Also, I plan to only OC the opty on stock voltage only.

Parts

Opteron 165
Epox 9NPA+Ultra
1GB(1x1024MB stick) value select ram(corsair)... will probably upgrade to 2GB later
evga 7800GT
Cooler Master Centurion case
Fortron AX-450-PN 450W power supply
NEC 3550A DVDRW
200GB hard drive(already have it)

That machine will be ~1000 bucks... any suggestions?

Thanks!

that's a pretty good choice in components, not a big fan of how the case looks, but to each his own i guess. I'd just suggest a floppy drive for those damned bios updates and a copy of windows xp, and you'd be set.

Thanks for taking a look. I'm probably just going to transfer my winxp from my current pc. I"m thinking about loading linux on it anyways. I've also got a spare floppy that I can use too.

what about the 450 watts? Good enough?

yup. thte 7800s use less power than those 6800s.

Looks good.

Personally though, i'd just get a single GB dimm now though, so you can just add another to upgrade later.

4x512 MB would mean running @ 2T, which isn't ideal.
