Check out this pretty badass single-shot fight scene...

While there were several elements that seemed amateurish, I love the uniqueness of it relative to stereotypical Hollywood.

I particularly love when the camera "loses" track of the protagonist and thus forces me to use my imagination to fill in the blanks of what is going on. The continuous shot also gives a far greater feel to the presence of the total scene, particularly the pandemonium the fight was causing (while that is a strength it was also a weakness because the breakaway railings/glass/pots and background actors seemed cheap and thus ruin the immersion a bit, although I'm sure the budget on this film was no where near a typical Hollywood action flick)

Nice of all the bad guys to just stand around in exactly the right position to be hit/thrown/kicked. Above average choreographing, pathetically absurd execution.

yea the actual fighting and shit was pretty weak, i just thought it was badass how the camera felt almost like it was a video game camera following behind person running up the stairs and stuff, then panning away at different angles and stuff.

how come none of the bad guys had guns/knives etc? What's up with the dude near the end eating a scorpion? Does that add any value to the scene?

This scene is from the Tony Jaa movie "The Protector." The whole movie is completely absurd; it's about a guy whose elephant gets stolen and he goes on an intercontinental ass-kicking journey to get her back. But Tony Jaa is pretty exciting to watch; does all his own stunts and whatnot.

Just reading the thread title, I had guessed that this was going to be the clip.

how do u mark this for later besides repling to the thread and have it on your subscribed list?

I haven't tested it. But there's a drop down for "Thread tools" near the top of the thread. It has subscribe as an option.

Saw this in the theater with my wife...about halfway through it, I leaned over to her and whispered, "Holy shit, this is all done with one shot! Notice how there are no cuts, this guy must have been tired as hell doing this scene." I don't even know how or why I noticed that, but I picked up on it and it was definitely the coolest part of the movie because of that.

Nice analysis, I tend to agree.

dammit. i've already seen this, I thought it would be something new. I don't think it;'s actually all one shot, I think they sneak in a few cuts. Still pretty damn cool though. That whole movie is ridiculous.

It is without a doubt orders of magnitude better than Ong Bak 2.

If its the same movie I saw then there is another fight scene where Tony Jaa takes on an entire army of bad guys (a few at a time of course) and he breaks their limbs in x-number of ways. I lost count, heh.

I saw this quite a long time ago. It's an old vid that for some reason just recently got uploaded to break.

The scene right after this one in the movie is actually a better "fight" scene, but this is quite cool for the level of stuntwork being done in a single take shot.
