If the turbos get that hot, wouldn't they become super brittle and tear themselves apart?

Assuming they are made of carboard paper, yes.

They are probably made of tempered steel atthe very least, or some Carbon-fiber or composite.

<---knows something about MATERIALS engineering,b ut nothing about Turbo's except that they look liek Snails😀

Obviously not.

Cool video, have it saved on my PC from sometime last year, I recognized the file name.

A true lifer

My tiny turbo even glows at night when I boost a lot. Nothing special there... I don't even think it's the turbos glowing... it looks like manifolds. Even mine glow in daylight... cast iron is generally the material for most "hot" sides (turbine) of turbocharged cars.

You normally don't want your Exhaust Gas Temps to be beyond a certain point anywho since that means you're on the verge of melting a piston. But your turbocharger turbines and exhaust headers/manifolds are holding back over REALLY hot exhaust. Even on a normally aspirated car that's running hard, you'll see the exhaust headers glow but a lot of times people put wrap or shielding on it to keep that power-robbing heat away from the rest of the engine.

That car doesn't give me wood as much as the JUN "Super Lemon" R33 Skyline GTR. 1000+hp and AWD. An even faster 0-60 time and 1320. I'm not sure how reliable the Autothority Porsche would be... it's not overengineered like the RB26DETT is.

notfred: usually it's caused by a lean condition. Sometimes it happens when breaking in an engine and is due to the lack of air moving over it to cool it down. Normally, when that car is producing that power, there's alot of air movement over the headers.

The Authothority Porsche is a work of art. It's a 700HP daily driver, gets ~20MPG highway, handles incredibly well for a car with that much power on tap. Try taking a 1000HP drag Skyline through a slalom.
