Boy am I glad I own an xbox

BTW, it will also come out for the PC shortly after but according to IGN it won't look as good as the xbox version... they are aiming for Geforce2's with the PC version so they turned off lots of the effects.

That's just super. How about putting the game out with all the cool eye candy included for those of us with at least a GF3 and letting those with lesser cards turn the damn settings off themselves instead of punishing the rest of us?

From Gamespot interview with Splinter Cell's producer, Mathieu Ferland:
"MF: They will be really similar visually. We use different techniques on the Xbox and PC, but the final result will look almost identical. The main differences on the PC will be the controls with the keyboard and mouse and the screen definition, which is better than TV. "

This is what IGN said, though the article is a couple months old:

Visually, Splinter Cell looks impressive, although not quite as nice as the Xbox version. Because Ubi Soft is shooting for minimum requirments of a GeForce 2, some of the neat effects associated with the GeForce 3 equipped Xbox won't be in the PC version. However, the lighting is still by far the most impressive visual aspect, and there's plenty of light and shadow play going on in the PC version.
