Hey everyone, the visual effects/marketing company I work for has recently spent some free time creating this fun little project and I thought it was worth sharing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qLZjFJcBTI

It was fun seeing it being pieced together and even working on it myself. It's always fun for us to step away from the serious work and create something for ourselves. It might not be too much, but we are a small team of about 6 people creating these types of projects and they are very time consuming. Some day I wish to be in charge of a lot more artists to create something bigger and better. Pretty soon here we will be piecing together a little "how it's done/making of" video so I'll show that to you guys too if you're interested 🙂

It says right at the beginning of the video, but the programs used were Syntheyes, Autodesk Maya, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Photoshop.
I didn't see it at the time. 😳

Have you ever looked at Blender3D for your work? It has an impressive list of features and it's free.

I have seen blender out there before, but we use Maya at our studio. I think Maya is a great package and it is pretty important for us to use it because most students coming straight out of school either have Autodesk Maya or 3D Studio Max experience. Just that fact alone saves us months of training time.

That was pretty cool OP. What parts did you work on?

Thanks!

I'm the lead 3D animator at the company so I do a lot of supervision and suggest different styles if something looks off.
In this one I did:
- The video shoot on the greenscreen
- Chroma keying (taking the green out of the background)
- Tracking marker removal (there was a bunch of tracking markers on the actor's arm that needed to be "painted" out)
- Object tracking (tracking the actor's arm so that the gun would follow along with it)
- The title screens and all the sound effects

Two of the other animators did the design, modeling, and texturing and then I also helped implement it into the arm.
