Granted they're both budget tires but it's been known that slight variance still occurs among the big brands too. Maybe not as much as this though. Left is from a brand from the UK and right is from China.

Which one do you think is closer to the true 265/30/r19 size?

The right? Though I'm not sure it helps that it doesn't look mounted.

Competition autocross tires are sometimes like this. One brand clearly wider for the same size.

Is the one on the right mounted? It looks like the rim on the left is too wide for the tire.

I'd be more worried about the apparent height difference than the width. Width varies alot. Diameter is important.

That's what I would think, too. And from what I've been able to discern after looking at over two dozen tires of that size from various manufacturers like Michelin, Pirelli, Kumho, General, Goodyear, Continental, Yokohama, Toyo, and Dunlop to mention a few, the overall diameter of a new tire of that size seems to center on 25.4". So, measure the new one. If it measures at 25.4" in overall diameter, or within a tenth of an inch of that, then it's right. If not.......

Your old one is probably less since it's worn quite a bit, but should probably within a 1/2" or so of that 25.4" figure.....

Tread width is all over the board, tho. Have seen it "measured" at 9.3" to 10.7" at that size tire.

Looks like the one on the left is mounted (on not quite the correct size wheel) and inflated, and the one on the right is not.

If so, this is apples and oranges.

My brother came home one time with 3 different brand tires on his car. D: Took it to discount and spent less than $500 to get 4 matching new ones.

It's a standard size 19" wheel with 9.5" width. 265/30/r19 is the common tire size for this wheel size and width. Both tires are the same exact size stated but obviously different in physical width and diameter. I know the left is mounted and inflated but even after getting the right one mounted and inflated there's still a significant difference. With both mounted left looks like it's stretched and right looks like when the tire width is correct for the wheel width.

I found an article explaining why.
