How would "you are a child pornographer and we want ot charge you money" ever elicit a CC number.

Criminals are almost ALWAYS total fools.

That one rises to a new level of stupid. "You don't know me, but I'm going to charge you $234.65. If that's OK, give me your credit card number." You would have to be incredibly dense to fall for that!

It would probably be easier and equally successful to stop random people on the street, ask to examine their paper money, and announce some of it is counterfeit and must be confiscated.

I bet that would work in a few cases. I can't believe you'd give your CC number to these folks to get it thrown in a washing machine though.
