This is a little project I've been hacking on for a few weeks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8lHdgHQmvc

Google Earth is a bit laggy (it shows a lot of I/O errors in the console), but Fruit Ninja runs quite well. It is basically a consumer-grade optical touch panel hooked up to an ARM development board running Gingerbread.

Neat, what can you tell me about the board? Did you make your own device/vendor for the board or was that available already?

very cool. I wondered if you were gonna zoom in on a license plate, enhance, and then catch the killer like in CSI

You'll have to write a "Visual Basic GUI" to do that. 😛

Nice Acer T230H widescreen touch screen monitor OP, too bad you can't lug it around with you. 😉

a decent size touch screen is under $300 on newegg. home built touch photo frame/android spot?

I can't see the YouTube link at the moment, but I assume this was done with an ARM-based development board? I've looked them up a few times in the past, and I know they're quite capable and have a fairly wide array of I/O capabilities.

EDIT:

Oh wait, apparently I can't read. You mentioned this in your post. 😛 At least in my failure, I guessed correctly!

it's neat....but why didn't you just use a PC again? couldn't you build a tiny, tiny little system that would be infinitely more powerful?
