Check out my tax return toy. :O

hahahhahha lot of haters in this thread.

i travel and hike a lot, and this is just a way to kill two birds with one stone -- it has gps in it as well as walkie talkie functions.

i paid much less for the radio anyway 🙂 nothing beats having awesome electronic hookups!

i was in the car while my g/f was driving...tracking my movements.
then i checked out the electronic compass..

and then we went up a hilll, and it measured the elevation. 🙂

Then i got a trip summary of the distance we travelled, avg speed, blah blah.

Then i picked up some FRS channels w/people talking on them (near the mall). I talked back.

Then i thought, what a great toy!
AHHAHHHAHAHA

cool, i got a rino 110 for 50 bucks. I don't know anyone else with one though 🙁
It's a cool little unit. Pick up a cable for it, and you can hook it up to a laptop for some wardriving or *real* navigation.

I use mine to find my car in the parking lot now. I can't wait till i take this thing camping! I wish I had friends with rinos. I can't help but feel I'm wasting it. 🙁

Did you randomly stumble across a channel with people talking? That's quite the luck you have considering there are so many channels and subchannels.

There's a scan feature on my Rino 110, that scans all the channels, and "subchannels". So there's no luck involved at all. Just click on Scan, and it'll find the channel, and subchannel with activity.

The subchannels aren't really subchannels, they're just squelch codes. and it merely filters out everything that's not on your code. So if you're on Channel 4, Code 12, you only hear broadcasts on 4(12). But everyone on Channel 4 and NO code, will hear you too.
And there are still FRS radios sold without the subchannel feature.

ApacheXMD that is a killer price! 🙂 Also, if u are ever in LA, we can bust out our Rinos. HAHAAH

srvblues00 i'm checking it out now. 🙂

sygyzy we were near a mall, and they use those FRS radios all the time in the stores - like GAP, Banana Republic, etc etc. And ApacheXMD is correct on the scan features. 🙂
