I thought of that and threw it away. My jigsawing skills aren't pro so one mistake and the piece is gone . . . The port holes are a little messed up too, but not too noticeable.
Use an expanding glue, like Gorilla Glue, and/or caulk in any gaps. Use a skinnier jigsaw blade so you can turn it more easily.

Cut it just a touch under sized and start sanding. Best way to make sure you dont go over if your not good with a jigsaw.

If the ports fall off, that's what I'm going to do.

Yeah... it's nice and clean, That stuff right there is E Dead sound deadening V.1 I think, I bought like 60 sq. feet of it and used it all, it does a decent amount of sound deadening, most of it I found out was coming from my bumper, so I lined some shims with the sound deadening material and put the shims in between the frame of the car and the bumper.. now it sounds a lot better than it did before. On the spoiler thing, I know exactly what you're talking about, one of my friends I had, had a 95 dodge neon and it rattles like a bitch, sounds nasty.

I had less then good luck with Edead. I had heard some less then admirable stuff about E in the past but wanted to try some of there stuff and form my own opinion.
I wont be using any E products in the future, accessories or otherwise.
Yeah, I'd recommend secondskin deadening for good quality, good pricing (compared to the likes of dynamat).

Yeah I don't believe it's high grade stuff.... I Might try FatMat sometime, I've already had a few random slabs of my E-dead come off on me which is dissapointing, but it does sound a bit better than before... I actually don't believe the material helps much.. I believe it's more about finding the empty spaces and filling up where two pieces of material are rattling against each other.

From my experience, and based on what I've read elsewhere, I dont think anything E makes is high grade stuff.
But, i've been out of the audio scene for a while so that have changed. Regardless, once bitten twice shy.

Yeah it's hard for me to tell too, I wasn't about to go buy a 36 sq ft kit of dynamat for 200+ bucks, It seemed like a rip to me.

Get a rasp or file. Sanding would take forever, although MDF does sand down pretty quickly if you lean on the sander it also makes an assload of dust doing it.

Yeah I'm making the Amp rack mounts out of MDF for the caacitor and the amp I have.... Rasps can eat through MDF quite well.

I've got a badass amp rack idea that involves titanium rods and uncased amps with neon.....
Too bad I have neither the time, money nor inclination to follow up on it. 😱

I've found guns are far better at making loud noises, so I traded in my 12 inches for 12 gauges. 😀

You'll use bondo on it to make it all pretty right? (No, I'm not kidding) so it doesn't have an bumps or anything. My Dad built 90% of the speakers in our house, and we have quite a few of them, that's what he does to make sure they look go after he paints them or what ever.

We have a monster sub in our hometheatre.... He spent a while designing it to make sure he'd get all that he could out of the subwoofer... it can go low enough so you can't hear it/ it's bearly audible, but the way you know it's on is because it's shaking everything in the house. It's amazing.

hahah.. yeah it's hard to build up motivation for some of this stuff... my amp rack is just gonna be the same idea as my subwoofer enclosures, just doing it deeper down in the trunk, I've got the fiberglass mold done, and I've got the mount for my amp and capacitor almost done, gotta cut down on some of the thickness of mdf... I should've just used plywood cause in the end I just need it thin... kinda sucks but it's good that I have a rotozip

I'm suprised I'm not braindead after not wearing a mask after all the fiberglassing and only wearing a mask 3/4's of the time I'm sanding MDF

Ya, My old 94 Bonne had two Alpine R12 series subs, dual M1000 amps powering them. So much vibration, it was like sitting on one of those massage chairs. Too bad I couldnt bring the system to college, Im fearing that it would be stolen (over $3k retail overall). Anyways, it got to the point where I not only put sound dampening stuff all over the trunk, but in the doors, parts of the firewall that would allow it, and wheel wells, all because of the damn rattling (maybe its just that Bonnevilles suck at sound dampening).

I am also wondering why the box is so much bigger than mine, mines only 2 cu ft (1 per sub). I know ported need more, but 4 cu ft seems a bit much for dual 12s.

I find that cars that are older tend to have a sh!t ton more rattling than all the new cars.. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is what I'm observing through all the systems I've seen... I wish I had $3K to put into my system... I would do some CRAZY stuff with that 😀

Well, it was $3k retail, bought at something around $1k for everything execpt amps, $500 for the 2 online. Worked for 2 summers at BB to pay for it. It doesnt have any lcds or anything of that nature, just an Alpine deck with 60watts x 4, some 5.25s and 6x9s. Nothing crazy with my car, Im trying to keep on the low-down so no one steals the stuff. I know Im kinda paranoid about that, but Id rather be safe than sorry (not to mention all the work Id have to do with my parents' insurance company). I also save something like $300 by doing all the work/installation myself.

Oh I have some advise for you, make sure your alternator and battery can handle all the power going to the subs, because the stock ones on my Bonne died after 2 hours of use. So definatly get a new, better battery and make sure your alternator is working perfectly. Also make sure your ground wire/s to your frame are connecting properly, I had that problem also.

Yeah I'm worried about my alternator.. but I'll fix it when it goes if it becomes a problem... I know it's not that big..

Consider getting a second battery to run the amps, its probably not necessary unless you have atleast 2000watts being used.

Yeah I'll definately think about it when I start getting up there.. but for right now I'll be running about 1200 at most with my amp and my inverter.. So I should be fine for right now... but once I start getting up to those numbers If I don't have a new car by then I'll start thinking about replacing the alternator

Adding batteries does nothing for you, unless you plan to isolate them and run the system with the car off -or- if you're simply trying to compete and need more amperage than any alternator can put out (cheaper than adding multiple alternators). Furthermore your alternator will need to charge more batteries causing it more strain. If your system is drawing more amps at peaks than your alt produces then it draws from the battery, obviously, but if your system is drawing continuously more than your alt you'll end up killing any number of batteries.
