im not a web design person whatsoever, im an IT guru, typical hardware/OS type guy.... so yeah, this is probably way below typical standards for anything web design related....but i thought i'd show you guys anyway....

ignore the links to other pages for the time being, all i've really done anything with is the home page so far, and it's gonna link to an ebay store, so the other pages besides like contact info, and what not will probably not even make it onto the final site....

but here's what i got so far

Not bad. The page is off-center (a little to the left), the main logo covers up too much space and the links ought to be in a single line.
Maybe the pics could have a border around them? They seem kinda flat against the background.

(Just commenting as a casual user)

Edit: And yeah, it would be pretty awesome if you guys refrained from bringing up OP's history on here.

yeah i coudnt decide what resolution to set it up for, so i just did as basic 1024x768 page....maybe i should make it bigger....

so you think i should border the pics?

oh and the links are gonna be gone i think, all im gonna keep is just the contact link, and maybe a link straight to the ebay store....

and then im gonna have the pics, link to the ebay store as well, to the specific portion the pic corresponds too...

I don't think you should border the pics. I think it contrasts well with the background color.

That's weird, the page looks fine (centered) when I set my display resolution to 1024x768. I don't know how to explain it exactly but your page's content should automatically align towards the center so that it looks the same at all display resolutions.

I mean, just open any page on the Internet and resize your browser window. It looks constant. The higher I set my res, the further your page's content veers to the left. Try and fix that.

ok yeah, i'll work on that... i think im done playing with it for tonight...

another thing i was gonna ask, is how much should i charge these people for making a page like this when all is said and done, i usually bill out at $65 an hour for IT stuff/on site troubleshooting stuff, but this is a whole new ballgame for me.... i've spent about 2 hours so far on the page, and i figure i can have it completely finished in another 2 hours tommorow.... so does $260 sound about right all said and done? i also charged them an hour labor ($65) to register the domain and set up 5 email accounts for them in the office...

so $325 is what it would all come out to be.... you guys think thats a good price, or should i go a little higher?

What is a hardware/OS type guy? Someone that deals with putting together machines and installing the OS, or someone that knows how to write a device driver and is a kernel level guy?

personally I think you should go lower because this isn't your expertise, and for $300, you can get an art student to make a fairly professional looking website for the contents you've listed.

maybe, because when i put in http://sweet-cookie.com/ it comes to a completely blank page with "sweet-cookie.com" in the upper left corner.

yeah most of the stuff i do is real simple stuff... building machines/upgrades/os installs/reformats, just basic stuff..... i just work out of my office at my house....

the network stuff i do is mostly just basic stuff too, small lans, a few more in depth things like remote administration, i have a couple of clients who have pretty decent size Lans, sql databases, messaging, etc...

i dont think you should waste time designing.
check out http://www.monstertemplate.com/
they have a great selection of templates for you to choose from. then all you have to do is edit the text. the templates are very professional. i used to design but using templates is so much faster.

so you can spend around $325 as you mentioned. or buy a template for $80 and just edit the text and be done with it.
