Check out my 3Dmark2001 score

2240 with GeForce 2 400mx (pci) and 866mhz Pentium 3.......sad....very sad. The graphics aren't acctually that bad. Not great either and its almost impossible to run games at high settings.

Anyhow I just recieved my new set up from Newegg, 2500Barton, Asus A7n8X Dlx, ATI 9600 pro, 512mb 3200 Geil Ram.....Antec case with 350W PS....

I would think i can triple the score I got with this POS.

What you guys think my score would be with the new set up at stock settings???

U shouldn't complain. my *AGP* GF2 MX400 with a Pentium 1.5Ghz only scored 13xx in 3Dmark 01. It was a real POS... I have since then sold that card and never looked back.

In reply to policy... there is no point to these really. Just people whom are fascinated with numbers their PC produces on a silly benchmark... "wow my PC is twice as leet as b4!!!" 😉

well I wouldn't be taking 3Dmark so seriously. It's fine as a little comparison for similair systems but it's not the oracle of PC performance and don't look that hard into your 3Dmarks.

Nice...I would thing its going to be a very noticable difference....

I know this card is better then my bros TI4200 64mb.....would there be a noticable visual differnce with mine?

Do you think we will be shocked?

Yes, in my opinion there is a slight difference going from a Ti4200 to a Radeon 9800 (and the 9600 series has the same video quality). The 9800 (9600) does look a bit better.

However, it's certainly not night and day, and both have excellent 2D quality.

I would also guess somewhere around 10,000 3dmarks. With the CPU overclocked @ 3200+ (2.2 GHz) I'd guess 12,000+ . Not too bad of an upgrade I might say 😉.

I agree that 3dmark2001 isn't the holy grail of 3d benchmarks, however it is a very useful tool nonetheless. The difference he will notice in 3dmark (ie a 4X increase) will translate to a very VERY noticeable improvement in game performance across the board, and in this case the 3dmark benchmark has done it's job. It's shown a huge improvement in performance that is reflected in games.

What 3dmark is not good for is knitpicking scores and debating "I'm the fastest". What is is good for is getting a ballpark figure for relative performance. If I have a 3 GHz P4 and a Radeon 9800 Pro and I get only 10,000 3dmarks then I will know that something is drastically wrong with my setup, because there's no way it should be that low .

I didnt think it would be a big difference....I mean TI4200 is an amazing card. I was considering buying it, but at $100 for the 128mb....I figured I would just step up to 9600pro.

I play WW2 games and use Mechenical Desktop for 3D design so better card won't hurt.

Besides I want to have a better set up then my bro 🙂

actually, if you're wondering what the ti4200's 3Dmarks are like... i'm quite sure it actually scores more than the 9600 Pro. it's a pretty close race between those 2 if you're talking 3Dmarks.

11-12k sounds about right. That's what I get with my 2500@3200 and a 9600 Pro. Overclocked, the highest you'll probably see is 13,500 (maybe a bit higher).

Actually, I meant the GF2 MX > R9600P would be a good upgrade, not the Ti4200 to the 9600P. Sorry for the confusion! The second case is hardly much of an upgrade at all (ie both perform more or less the same).
