Well, I'm getting pretty close now. I need knobs, access panels, a pick guard (I might not put this on though... blocks the view of the top), fret inlays, strap knobs, and head stock details, but I thought I'd let you all see what I've done so far. I'm pretty happy with it. I've done everything from scratch for this scene, with the exception of the floor, which is just a standard 3dmax cedfence bitmap. Other than that, I did all the modelling, lighting, material creation etc etc...

The image is 1600x1200 and ~350K. I also have a 640x480 7 second .mov available, but it's 21.3 megs, and I don't have a host...

I'll add a few more stills showing a bit more detail once I get them rendered.

She my Pride and Joy...

update: Added a wireframe render of the bridge pickup/bridge/tailpiece section.

look at all the lines

update 2: Added a good shot of the lower area in just a shaded render so you can see some of the model a bit better.

You'd think a jpeg could compress blue to blue with no problems right???

That'd ruin the whole thing... Sure, the guy's talented, but damn is he ever ugly. :)

Great job, but I would cut down on the brightness of the metal material.

Other than that it is worth repect.

Yeah, my material creation skills aren't all that great (that's the main reason why I don't have knobs... getting the solid, translucent orange colour ended up in disaster).

Coolness. I'm doing a wireframe render of the bridge pickup/bridge/tailpiece area. Sooooo many lines. :)

Well, it should be a picture of his beat-to-hell-SRV strat, but whatever. I saw a version of that guitar rendered in lightwave on the 'net once and it was awesome. That and SRV's music sort of inspired me.

What's the reflection of, that your using?

Make THAT Stevie (Or some other rocker, if you MUST). That would be WAY cool looking!

Kinda ghosted in there, so a person would have to look REAL close to even see it. :Q

Hey, that's actually a really good idea. I'm going to do that.

I used this image as the image map for the ceiling that the guitar reflects.

I've actually been thinking of doing a slow pan around the guitar, having the camera stop to take a good look at the reflection, and then having the reflection move (like maybe have the person wink or something), then resume the pan. I'll have to learn how to do that though.

Thanks man. I was wondering when you'd show up :)

Hey! I'm a working man :);)

Me too. I just got off at a decent hour today (it was alright though, as I had a 16 hour render to wait on)
