first things first. you need to have a nice color scheme. add more colors instead of inverted types.

second. your damn buttons are too huge.

third, your logo doesn't cut it.

The red burns my retinas, the layout is very sloppy, the logo is crap, and the content looks llike slashdot's frontpage. Maybe its because Im using nescape, but it looks like you need to sit back down and redo EVERYTHING. Also, a site URL with mispelled words is basically unprofessional, but that is the least of yor worries...
 
some thoughts...
- buttons too big
- links on the right need to be integrated with the stuff in the middle, they're just out in the middle of nowhere
- need more white space for "site news"
- slogan should be closer to or integrated with the logo
- everything's the same size... if you want the front page to emphasize the center stuff, make the "site news" part smaller
