3pm seems kinda late for me. If I check in at 1pm...would the clerk let me do so? Anyone knows anything about hotel operation?

thats not unusual, checkout time might be 1 oclock which gives the 2 hours to clean the room.

They might not promise that you can check in at 1, but if you request it ahead of time and show up at 1, they'll probably give you a room if one is ready.

as long as there's a clean room, they will let you in. Resorts sometimes prohibit early check in because they have a had time getting rooms ready.

The worst that has ever happened to me when I tried an early check-in was that they stored my bags for an hour and then let me have the room when it was cleaned.

Hotels normally have a noon check-out and the 3 PM check-in is to give time to the cleaning staff. The busier the hotel, the harder to get a room a littl early.

I've checked in as early as 10 AM without an issue.

a lot of places are willing to stretch both check in and check out if you give them a little notice.

It's more of a guideline to lower expectations. We've gotten a room at 130pm while checkin was supposed to be 3. They won't turn away a customer as long as a room is clean & available.

Check-in time is 1:00 P.M. if they just straighten out the sheets on the bed from the previous customer. 3:00 P.M. - if they put new linens on the bed. :D

Actually, most hotels seem to be 3:00 P.M. from my experience. I guess when they had it at 1:00 P.M. before, they found out that they didn't have many of the rooms ready.
