Can't copy files from my laptop - Access Denied

Suddenly I can't copy files from my laptop to my desktop computer. I can copy files from folder to folder on the laptop but not from a folder on the laptop to a folder on the desktop. I get an "Access Denied" error.

Up until just now I was copying files regularly back and forth.

I'm running XP Home on the laptop and XP Pro on the desktop.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Update:

I can get files (copy/paste) from the laptop if I use windows explorer in the desktop system to access the laptop files via the LAN.

If I try to use windows explorer on the laptop to copy/paste files to the desktop via the LAN I get "Access is denied" error message when I do the paste. The error message says can access the file I'm copying on the laptop.

Maybe it a poorly worded message. Maybe it's trying to create a file of the same name on the desktop, but can create it because of permissions. Instead of saying "Can't create file because access is denied to the folder I'm trying to use" it's saying "Access is denied filename". That makes more sense.

Paniced because I have a job tomorrow where I have to load a bunch of files (12GB) onto the laptop which I then have to move to the desktop. At least I can get them through the desktop. Whew!
