I just got a 7950GX2 for my P5W DH with e6600 processor, and I was wondering if there was anyway to verify that the second core of it was working while rendering 3d images and games? I just want to make sure, so that there's no problems with my purchase.

1.) Load favorite game
2.) CRANK up the settings to the MAX
3.) If your game is playable with crazy FPS i would say your in good shape ;)

Other than that...i do not know lol

I have the same card and never thought of checking because anything i throw at it plays fine.

Download 3dmark06 from futuremark. Install andd run it. Post the score back here. We'll tell you how good or bad your card is.:)

Make sure the settings in nvidia Control Panel are set to Application Controlled, etc. to run these benchmarks.

Although that scores sounds very low.

Yup there's a problem

I score well over 6000, but with 3dmark 06 im CPU limited because I do not have a dual core.

What brand is it?

RMA time maybe?

Your 06 mark seems low as well. Can you recall what the cpu score was? Not to brag but even my 7900gtx hits over 6k range easily.

Nightmare225.
Make sure your mobo is supported by checking Nvidia site for compatibilities. CHekc the mobo site for latest bios as well. There seems to be lot of 7950gx2 incompatibilties issues lately through out the net, I have read

My CPU score wasnt even 1000 if i remember correctly (maybe 900's).

Thats why i thought I had a low score. i've seen 9000+ and 10,000 but they were all dual core's not single.

I thought 6000 range was normal for a single core set up.

maybe im wrong?

I know its compatible because I've seen computers with 701 Bios's and the card work at accepted speeds before. my cpu score was 2037, which is right on target. I'll try downgrading the BIOS and seeing what happens...

That score seems about right acutally.
Also make sure it's on High Performance with all the optimizations on.

I had it on Application-controlled. Wow, one little option made such a difference...

What kind of scores are you getting with those Dual 7900Gt', jsut to compare.

My dual 7900GT's are overclocked to 690/1700 so it's not the greatest comparison in the world.

I got 9,200 last time I did it. But my all time high was 9,600 I got a month ago. (sry no links/pics)

It's a setting under troubleshoot in Display Properties. Someone on another forumj suggested disabling it. You should try it and see if theres a performance difference.

I just put together a e6600, xfx 7950 extreme, w an asus nforce 570 mobo and I got about 8300 on 3dmark06,,, all at stock speeds. I am using tweaks r us 91.45 XG vid driver. make sure you have the latest version of directx and also i put the usepmtimer command in the boot.ini file. The usepmtimer seems to help many intel dual core problems.

After having overclocked my e6660 to 3.06 GHz, I finally hit 9100 3dMarks. Everything's performing as it should now!
