Check Engine Light

Wednesday - On my way home from work I stopped to fill up my gas tank.

Thursday - Drove about 40 minutes north to grandmothers house for Thanksgiving dinner. On the drive home with about 10 minutes left in my trip the check engine light pops on. As soon as I got home I checked all of the engine fluids. None of the fluids were low. I also triple checked my gas cap was on tight.

Friday - Didn't drive anywhere.

Saturday - Get called into work. Go to start the car and I was greeted with the check engine light again.

Back when I purchased this car in 06 I had the check engine light come on and took it in to the dealer. Ended up paying the dealer $40 to tell me my gas cap was loose and was the cause of the check engine light. Ever since then I have been very conscious to make sure the cap is secure.

Any thoughts as to why the light popped on? Is there some trick I can use to clear the check engine light? The engine has 107,400 miles. It is the 3.4 V6.

EDIT: Another thing I noticed was my engine temperature seemed to be low. Assuming each hash mark equals 5 degrees the temp was hovering around 150-155. However I didn't notice any lack of heat this morning on my drive into work.

Doing some searching I found a post where someone mentioned his 3.4 was running at 150 and caused a check engine light. He replaced his thermostat and the temp was back up around 185.
