A few days ago I asked about beeping on my Ultra D. Mobo was BROKEN!!! I went to the pc store and exchanged it.
First windows intall was on bios that came with the mobo (dfi nf3 ultra-D)+4200 X2. It crashed in the middle of install, giving me a blue screen and some info about hardware. Second install was f##d up also and it finished in less than 10 minutes. Most of the stuff was not installed. Still,it worked untill I installed all drives that came with the mobo on a CD. After that I was getting that blue screen after about 1 minute in windows. I updated bios bios to 620.I was told not to go for 705,since I got the impression it's very messed up. Reinstalled windows. So far it works...but Ntune shows bios version 4XXX. HUH?! Did I updated it?

2 hours later.... system does not want to run and gives a blue screen on start up if I have a DVD drive AND a second hard drive hooked up. Apparently only 1 can be connected at the same time.

Ntune shows idle at 39C and about 49C at stress. Which is weird as it doesn't feel that hot. Sometimes it only shows 22 at idle and 27 at streess-for a second.

I tried to up overlock going from 200 to 201-215mhz. I get blue screen at windows start up or right after.

the temps could be right...what HSF are you using???

That does sound nightmarish...I haven't heard the other DFI boys having this much trouble....My X2 was a breeze as I didn't reinstal windows cause I used my Neo2 sckt 939 mobo...

oy reading through the dfi thread a bit it does seem you have your work cut out for you. i love my dfi nf4's but i'm kinda surprised with the problems they're reporting in that thread.

for one i guess, i wouldn't be too concerned about what ntune is saying. it doesn't seeem to be reporting well for many, you'll prbably be better off checking in bios.

judging from what others are talking about with vcore fluctuation i'd be really careful. may want to take a dmm to the measuring points for vdimm and vcore and see what you're getting. it'd be a shame to blow out an x2.

Ntune is like the fvcking joke of a reporting program called corecenter by MSi....This marvel of software has long been rumored by sites as a source of instability and advise ppl not to even have it installed...It reported some whacky 12v rails for me and once started beeping at me and said my NB chipset fan was not running (0rpm) yet I could look in the case is see it was fine...i had to exit out of it to turn the noise off...

everything is stock...

I am using 1gb of corsair value. changed it to ocz premiere and I get the same freakin' blue screen. changed it back to corsair and .....blue screen again!! I removed 1 stick and left only 1x512-it worked. added 1 more and it worked again.

fyck,what's wrong with this board?

It's possessed:evil:

Mabye the proc. is defective?

I had similar problems with a 3500+ Clawhammer. Thought the K8NS-Ultra 939 was at fault, but it had problems on the Neo2 as well. Seriously, try your RAM and proc in another mobo...

Try raising the memory volts a bit, like to 2.7 or 2.8.

I'm guessing that it doesn't like having two sticks of ram in. Try running memtest with two sticks and with one stick.

Try using CPU-Z to see what bios you have installed. ITs reporting my bios correctly on my nF4 Ultra-d.

Hello, the DFI NF4 does not like Corsair VS, it is a hit or miss.

I also hope you are using a 24 pin power supply.

Huh?! I don't have nf4. And no I am only using 20 pins. I'll give you 100 if you can jam 24 pins in there..

in that thread it appears people are complaining about flashing this board and that perhaps the old bios aren't being completley overwritten. maybe try reflashing to the same bios a couple more times may help??

just grasping at straws here. and duvie is right about ntune. i know you're just using it to monitor but i'd get speedfan or mbm if your driver disc didn't come with ite.

Ok, OCZ premiere sticks just worked. Thought I'd switch try stock and then up the voltage, but it worked at stock 2.6. I can't stop swearing. WTF is going on?!
Out of 6 computers I've built in last 4 years, this has to be the worst experience. I thought I liked building them. I actually enjoyed it. Not fu##n more!!! I have a total of 4 days wasted and I don't feel like it's over. I've yet to update athe Windows original ATA,Nforce drivers to those that came with with the mobo. I have a feeling they'll give me a nice blue screen. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

You should've avoided this motherboard until they get a new hardware revision out and they release a working BIOS. Right now you are just wasting your time and money. It's a P.O.S. in its current state.

first of all, its an Nforce4 Ultra-D....and second

ONLY A FOOL USES NTUNE WITH THAT DFI BOARD!!

it can corrupt/destroy that mobo, GET RID OF IT NOW!

DO NOT USE NTUNE WITH ULTRA D!

he knows what he has and he was just using it to check temps but i think he knows its worthless for just abut anything.

my bad...i assumed he was using a nf4 ultra-D....

i was under the impression nf3 chipset wasnt compatible with X2 processors....i thought they werent putting a BIOS update for those....

LMK, i could be way off base....

As far as what i have read all socket 939 motherboards nf3, nf4, k8t800, xpress 200, etc that could support the fx series power draw can be x2 compatible with a bios upgrade except via k8t890's possibly. I think I read there will be a revision to those to make them x2 compatible as well.

i think i'd just send this back if you haven't already. they're talking about a hardware revision on this thing and they can't seem to get a true working bios. sounds like a lot of trouble to put yourself through.
