I have a loud fan pumping air out the back of my case, and it's LOUD!!! it faces the wall, and I think the sound's bouncing off the wall and straight into my ear. Does anyone have a good idea on how to do anything about it? I'm thinking putting a tube between the fan and the wall and punching a few holes in the tube would act as a great muffler. Any ideas?

ROFL!

+1 <3 Yates.

however the zalman's and sanaces work better on heatsinks cuz they have better static pressure. So whats the application for?

Exhaust? go with blinky's recomendation.
HSF? get a Zalman 120mm fan.

You could just switch 'em to 7v instead of 12v. I just did that today and didn't notice any increase in system temperatures. And now I can barely hear it in a quiet room.

I think this will only work if you have fans with a molex connector.

I have an aerocool turbine running at 60% as my exhaust. (which is pretty much equivalent to a 7V mod) It cost me $15, and my parents were reluctant to get it in the first place. (it looks damn nice though.) So, I'm not getting rid of it. Should have said short of getting yate loons, what could I do?

You guys need to get out and shoot more firearms with out ear plugs. It will solve all your noisy fan issues. I can hear my fan running but sheesh you guys must have super sensitive hearing or something to complain about a stupid little fan. What do you do in the summer when the Air Conditioner is running?

I game with headphones on too and couldn't hear my fan even if it had a squeaky bearing in it.

Aflac: 60% is the lowest you can go in BIOS on my mobo. (P5K-E rev. 703 something like that) Aside from the muffler pipe idea, any other good ones?

Let me make sure I'm up to date here. You bought an expensive fan that your parents didn't like and now it's too loud so you want to find a way to make it quieter, even though it's already running at 60%?

Pick up a $2 3pin to 4 pin adapter then switch it over to run on 5v instead of 12.

If 7V is too loud, you can go to 5V. However I have found that 5V is not enough to get some 120 m fans going. If you are already running at 7V, then the fan should be silent. Are you sure the noise is coming from that fan, and not the power supply or cpu fan?
